I had just finished meeting with one of my clients, a retail establishment. I was wandering around the business, getting ideas for topics I could blog about on their behalf, and decided to pick the brain of one of the department managers.

I approached them and stuck out my hand. “Hi, I’m Laura. I’m the blogger for this company.”

Blank stare.

“You’re a WHAT?”

It quickly became clear to me that not everyone in the universe knows what a blog is.

Nor are some people familiar with the alphabet soup acronyms we toss around with such abandon.

Today on the podcast, we’re going to have fun with this; I’ll test your familiarity with 14 common publishing industry-related acronyms. Let me know how you do on the quiz.

Plus, in today’s WORD NERD MOMENT, you’ll learn the correct way to pronounce the name of the prize that honors outstanding literary or journalistic achievement.
