Facebook Makes It Easier to Run Promotions on Pages
You are no longer required to use third party apps to run contests, promotions, sweepstakes, and giveaways via a Facebook brand page. Facebook’s official announcement says:
Now, promotions may be administered on Page Timelines and in apps on Facebook. For example, businesses can now:
- Collect entries by asking fans to post on the Page or comment/like a Page post
- Collect entries by asking fans to message the Page
- Use likes as a voting mechanism
As before, however, businesses cannot administer promotions on personal Timelines.

Need Images for Facebook Ads?
Facebook has partnered with Shutterstock (a popular stock image service) to make over 25 million images available for use in Facebook ads. Sweet!
“Facebook is offering the images to advertisers at no additional cost, and each time a Facebook advertiser licenses a Shutterstock image the Shutterstock artist will earn a royalty.”
Shutterstock will be integrated directly into the Facebook ad creation tool, where advertisers will be able to test multiple images—including their own photos, visuals from their previous ads, and professional stock images from Shutterstock—across Facebook’s mobile and desktop advertising products.
