“Leaders of integrity.” The phrase is almost an oxymoron, isn’t it?
But Martha S. Weiss and Dianna Frey, directors of Equipping the Next Generation, are committed to training women to develop their leadership potential, using biblically-based leadership techniques.
Martha and Dianna came to us with an existing “build-it-yourself” templated website they wanted to retire (see BEFORE screenshots, below). They asked us to create a custom-designed, custom-programmed WordPress website and blog.
They had developed their own artwork – a logo, icons, slideshow, banners, and seminar images – that they asked us to incorporate into their new design.
Equipping the Next Generation (ETNG) offers four major types of training:
- Training and Transformation — monthly sessions focusing on personal leadership growth
- Workshops — Team-building workshops
- Mentoring — One-on-one leadership development
- Seminars — Daylong group training in leadership techniques
Our challenge was to design the website in such a way that each type of training is easily accessible and a snap to sign up for.
Easy Seminar Registration
One feature on the new ETNG WordPress site that I love is their seminar registration page
Martha and Dianna wanted a registration function that makes it easy for people to register for a seminar online and makes it easy for Martha and Dianna to add new seminars to their site.
You can see from the screenshot above that registering for a seminar is as quick as clicking the “Pay Now” button and paying via PayPal or via credit card. We programmed in a multi-tiered payment plan that rewards people who register early. We also left enough room on the page for them to display up to three seminars at a time.
Creating a new seminar listing in 1 minute
Now, let’s take a look behind the scenes, so you can see how easy it is to create a new seminar. (I’m timing myself to see how long it takes to create a new seminar).
From the WordPress Dashboard, click “Seminars” (note – we custom-programmed this feature into their site, so you won’t see this option on your own WordPress site).
Click “Add New.”
Fill in the Form fields:
- Title of seminar
- Date of seminar
- Contact person’s name
- Contact person’s phone number
- Contact person’s email
Click “Save Draft” if you’re not ready to publish it yet, or “Publish” if you want it to go live immediately.
Here’s what the new seminar looks like when it’s published on the Registration page:
Adding the seminar took me less than a minute. Slick, huh?
Here’s what Martha and Dianna had to say about their new site:
“Laura and her team gave us just want we needed and we didn’t even know it. We have a website that reflects who we are and what we offer.
We were ‘technologically challenged’ but you can’t tell that by the website. They came up with some great suggestions for our site that we didn’t even know existed.
Now our site represents us and will fit our needs a very long time.”
