Technology isn’t exactly my bent. It’s no wonder, then, that it bends me out of shape when it doesn’t cooperate for me or when I don’t understand it.
Laura Christianson’s expertise is changing that. Thanks to Blogging Bistro, technology is losing its intimidation factor and becoming my friend.
When Laura and I began discussing plans for my new website, I knew what I wanted but not necessarily what I needed. She filled in those gaps for me.
“You need a responsive site,” she said.
“Of course,” I answered. “What’s that?”
“Responsive means it displays properly on screens of various sizes,” Laura said. “Do you have other questions?” I laughed.
Laura’s patience with my learning curve exceeded my expectations. So did her skill at coordinating this huge undertaking. I say huge because developing my new website meant transferring lots of content from my old site. It also meant revising old text and writing new.
Actually, I’m a writer—a woman of words—so I tackled that task. But someone had to then take my words, decide their placement, ensure the various section headings were correct, proof the pages, write SEO keywords, oversee the graphic design, and make sure the techno inner workings were working properly.
That someone was Laura. The close communication she kept with me enabled me to learn what’s involved in website development. The freedom she invited to express my opinion about how something looked on the site and what revisions I thought necessary made me feel like a valued partner in the process.
My new website launched a few days ago, and I love it. Thanks to Blogging Bistro, I’m actually feeling confident about managing a few things there. When technology strikes fear into me again, I know who to call.
Personally, I feel Laura and her team not only met, but also surpassed, my wants and professionally addressed my needs. Take a look: www.gracefox.com
